Lenzie Community Transport - Lenzie CDT is currently exploring the potential for the development of an initiative to support community transport projects.

The basic premise would be to establish a model that makes it easier for Lenzie to set up and run a community transport service sustainably (e.g. car share, electric vehicles, car clubs etc).

The trust recognises that more needs to be done in this area if communities are to try and address the disappearance of public transport services, support local people to be able to access services and tackle issues such as social isolation and the various environmental issues associated with private car use.

River Kelvin/Allander Water Pathway Extension -

Lenzie CDT is currently working on a project to extend the River Kelvin footpath/cycleway. Starting in Torrance and heading west, the river section of the path currently ends at Cawdor Golf Course where the path turns right and crosses the river towards the village of Balmore.

Our plan would be to extend the river section of the path westwards beyond Cawdor to link to the existing path at Balmore Road, but in addition, to also build a link to the Allander Water path which would allow access to Milngavie, the West Highland Way and Bearsden etc.

Working with Sustrans, we have lodged an “Expression of Interest” application with them, and we are in touch with other community groups in East Dunbartonshire to move the project forward.
